Mapping to another domain

I've been working on trying to map a friendly domain name to another TypePad blog I have. This other blog will be used by people not that familiar with blogging, the internet, or even computers. So, I'm trying to design it with simplicity and friendliness in mind. Anyways, trying to figure out how to set the domain providers DNS settings to map to my typepad url has been a nightmare.

Luckily, I stumbled across a TypePad user's group that was great!! It had exactly the information I needed. So, I'm mentioning this only to point any other TypePad people to this user group as a great source of information. They are called "TypePad Users". This seems to be a friendly and useful bulletin board for anyone who uses TypePad.

I won't go into any details about the problems I have had, I just want to encourage you to check out TypePadUsers.com.

The "Cultural Effete"

I referred to the "Cultural Elite" in my last post. This is the common term for the relatively small group of leftist/liberal people in our culture who exert a huge influence in the areas of the arts, entertainment, politics, higher education, mass media, etc. I actually hate the term because the word "Elite" has a positive connotation.

Iraq - restoration of sovereignty

The cultural elite are busy putting their own negative spin on the early turnover of government authority to the Iraqi Provisional government. The nay-sayers can't bring themselves to say anything positive about this historic event. Instead they are busy lauding the cinema-trash of Michael Moore. They were out in force for the Washington D.C. premier fawning over Moore's hit-flick.

It's a good thing that we have real statesman running things in the State department. Such a huge contrast to the previous administration!

Be in prayer for Prime Minister Allawi and the people of Iraq. They have a huge and challenging job ahead of them.

Iraq Again

Marine Corporal Wassef Ali Hassoun, an Islamic American Marine of Lebanese descent, is the current kidnapped hostage that the terrorists are threatening to murder. So far, their murder of helpless captives have resulted in sensational publicity in the world press. I don't think they realize what kind of motivating effect murdering Corporal Hassoun will have on our forces in Iraq.

On Hugh Hewitt's blog, there is an open letter from a retired Marine to the terrorists. It's worth a read.

Iraq

Great news this morning about the turn-over of sovereign government to the Iraqi's provisional government! This certainly shows the U.S. is sincere in it's effort's to turn Iraq into a modern democracy. There is still a lot of hard work and sacrifice ahead, but this milestone will definitely be a signal to the world and citizens of Iraq that America keeps it's promises. I'm sure the terrorists (NOT insurgents!) will continue with their mindless bloodshed, but in the end they will not prevail.

Another Monday

Was it the Bangles that had the hit called "Manic Monday"? Anyways, it's tough getting back into the grind after a good sun-filled weekend. Reality came back rudely this morning when I discovered that the front yard sprinkler had been running for 2 hours!! No wonder the rest of the yard looks dry. Apparently either a bad solenoid, or the whole valve needs to be replaced. I'll be visiting Home Depot after work today.

Well today is my birthday. I'm 52 today. I'm ambivalent about birthdays, but considering the alternative, they're not that bad!!

Blog reviews - interesting concept

Yesterday I found out that some other blogger decided to do a review of "This Pilgrim's Progress". He left me a comment to that affect, so I visited his site and read what he had to say. He was pretty kind to me and gave me points for variety.

Save the Seals!!! Let them have the Beach!!!

Well, they are at it again!! A new plan for the Children's Pool is going to be considered by the city council. It recommends shared usage and dredging the sand out. This will probably result in chasing the seals away and ruining a wonderful tourist attraction. The seals don't hurt anybody, and many people enjoy watching them through out the year. There are plenty of beaches for people to swim at, but few places where you can see these peaceful creatures and enjoy them.

Abomination of Abominations!!!

New Scientist

An article fron New Scientist reports about a variety of coffee that researchers have found (or "developed"??), that is naturally decaffeinated! Actually it has a very reduced level of caffeine, but still twice as much as commercially decaffeinated coffee.

I think this a a case of Science going to the dark side!! Those plants ought to be torn up by their roots and incinerated!!!!! What if the new decaffeinated variety is genetically dominant, and passes it's decaffeinated genes to the good caffeine-rich arabica coffee plants???? I think we need to call in a strike team from Delta Force and rid the World of this menace and threat to Western Civilization! Can you imagine the world-wide recession that results from office workers, engineers, software developers, teachers, scientists, students, airline pilots, truck drivers, bus drivers, cops, fire fighters, shift workers, physicians, nurses, subway operators, and factory workers don't get the necessary wake-up jolt and synapse firing from their cup of coffee!!!!!! I'm so upset I'm going to get some Starbucks to calm my nerves....................
