John Mark Reynolds of Biola's Torrey Institute has a great column on this issue:

From what I've seen and heard so far, I think Mitt Romney is probably the best candidate for the Republican nomination. He's a successful businessman, a successful politician, and his stands on the issues align pretty well with us conservatives. I also like Hunter and Tancredo, but I don't think they have a snowball's chance in hades against any of the possible democratic candidates. Liberals like to harp on his change on many issues to the conservative side, but in my mind that's not a problem. Running in Massachusetts, he probably couldn't win as a conservative, so he had to position himself as a moderate. I think he's smart enough to know that the only way a Republican is going to win the Presidency is by standing on a firmly conservative platform.
