Diseased Squirrels in Paradise

Local news report today says that the squirrels on Mt. Palomar have bubonic plague!! It's a popular outdoor spot here in San Diego county, so this a bit serious.

I wonder if these were the squirrels that were transplanted from Balboa Park by Mike Aguirre??

Elizabeth M. Adler: Living with Lymphoma: A Patient's Guide
Excellent book that covers everything you need to know about lymphoma. Highly recommended. (*****)
Victor Hanson: A War Like No Other: How the Athenians and Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War
This is a wonderfully readable history of the Peloponnesion War by Victor Davis Hanson. Definitely for the history buff. He explicates the war chronologically, but also covering its major themes. The chapter titles give you a hint of his unique insights: "Fear", "Fire", "Disease", "Terror", "Armor", "Walls", "Horses", "Ships", "Climax", "Ruin?". If you love ancient history, then this is a must read. (*****)
Marcus Luttrell: Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10
Probably the best book to come out of the Iraq and Afghan wars. Incredible tale of wartime survival and a unique look at what it takes to produce the warriors of the Seal teams. Riveting and easy read, hard to put down once you start. (****)
Abigail Adams: My Dearest Friend: Letters of Abigail and John Adams
Highly recommended. Using the letters between Abigail and John it gives a unique perspective on the relationship these two had, and into the personality of one of our founding fathers. (*****)

Fascinating history that explores the relationships and personalities of the Revolutionary Generation of the Founding Fathers. (*****)
