Today was Day 0, or the day I got my previously harvested stem cells re-infused. There were 8 bags of cells to reinfuse and it took about 3 hours. No complications or severe reactions. I felt flushed after the first 3 bags (probably from the DMSO which is used to preserve the stem cells), but after that it was normal. They monitor your vital signs after each bag and mine were stable. It's been 3 hours since the last infusion and I'm feeling pretty good. I had some dinner (always good), and took 10 laps around the floor. Now I'm watching TV and catching up on email. The next few days I'll probably be feeling the affects of both the chemo and the recovery, and my immunities will be very low. It takes a couple weeks for the blood counts to come back up and your immunities and bone marrow to recover. It's amazing the medical technology that's available to fight lymphoma and other cancers. I've also been humbled by the sefless service of all the medical personnel that I've come across.
Soli Deo Gloria!
