Hi. It's been awhile since I last blogged. I've been very busy with my new job and family life and blogging kind of dropped in importance as my time was taken up with more important things. I'm starting to rethink this whole blogging thing. I'm considering dropping it for now, or maybe restructuring it around just a few topics of continuing interest.
It was a real blessing to find a new job in just a few weeks. For a one income family it gets a little scary when the bread-winner isn't bringing home any bread!! Thankfully, my former company gave me a very generous severance package, so the transition has been rather smooth. My new job was very stressful the first few weeks, but things have settled down to a more normal pace.
The kids are doing well. Our daughter loves college and is excelling in her studies. Our son's main interest these days is his drum-set, and he has become very proficient drummer. I've picked up the banjo and am slowly learning to play frailing/claw-hammer style. Debbie has been sewing in her spare time these days, making special hospital gowns as part of a local ministry.
I think we are all wishing for a less eventful year in 2008. After a house fire in 2006 and job layoff in 2007, we could use a breathing spell to recover our bearings. But we realized that God is sovereign, and whatever his plan is for our family, we have learned that he also gives us the grace to persevere.
Best wishes to all our friends and family. We hope 2008 will bring you and your family closer to the Lord.
God Bless!
